Wouldn't the safest base be the gated community near the north industrial zone ? The strip of houses is long and with only one entrance so that if you base at one of the two furthest inside, and clear the area, it'll become entirely safe as the chances of zombies wandering inside are low, much less wander all the way to the houses in the back

This absolute shit video. How are you gonna put farming to lvl 10 and then within the first minute of your video state this isn’t a “farming guide”

The zombies are cracked in this game. I literally cannot stop getting spotted by zombies. I usually get a trash spawn and am forced to go to other houses to find supplies, except an entire hoard of zombies follows me and it’s impossible to lose them.

Having hidden stashes in foliage and trees would be really cool tho

I always turn off blood infection, because it’s just a nuisance. Plus rabies sounds more fun to play against than HIV.

I thought it was unrealistic that zombies could batter down walls with a few smacks, then I remembered that they're American made walls.

I know I’m a year late to all these videos, but I have no doubt that this excellent series highlighting “shortcomings” in PZ have significantly added to build 42’s delay. Each of these excellent videos unequivocally demonstrates areas of the game that need improving. It they were smart they would have put this man on the payroll.

During a sound event i decided to make myself invisible and just run around for testing. I was sprinting around with increase speed and zombies from much larger area were going to the sound location. That felt way more realistic.

I have found tree containers in the wild. Always though it was a random spawn, spawning berries. Random because on a different run, I can't find them in the same place. No mods, in vanilla.

please stop using osrs as an example when it comes to grinding. its one of the ONLY games that has that much grinding. We need less meticulous grinds and more grinds that feel natural like the more zombies u kill, the more xp u get in that attack style. the more cars u finesse with, the more xp u get, everytime u bandage urself the more xp u get for first aid. stop encouraging stupid braindead activities that u need to repeat over and over again just to effeciently train. leave osrs out of zomboid. (i have 2 main accs with 2k total each, an ironman with 2k total and a gim with almost 2k total so ik wut grinding is)

The Smoker trait should come with some kind of hidden nicotine tracker which reduces or increases depending on how much tobacco is consumed, eventually the trait disappearing entirely with lack of use, having effectively quit smoking. Illiterate characters should be able to learn to read. You're also 100% right about skillbooks. Neither sitting there reading nor grinding skills slower are fun. Something needs to change.

I don't get how we would build these complicated bases with special facilities and animals if any time I build half a shack in the middle of the woods it gets destroyed after I blink once.

Another good one to take is outdoorsman, it cancels out prone to illness and makes it way easier to do things outside. Short sighted is good to and so it Conspicuous, Short sighted can be canceled out with glasses and Conspicuous doesn't really do anything since zombies can already see you pretty easily. Its better to get very underweight if you eat a lot since there is a lot of food and then with those points you can just choose a job like fitness Instructor or Security Guard to get your fitness back up

I tried this game once and sucked at it, but I'm still interested in giving it another shot, what kinda gameplay settings do you recommend for me? I like looting everything that isn't nailed to the ground and building stuff with my loot, I prefer the survival aspect in this kinda games over massacring endless hordes of zombies though I'm okay with defending myself every now and then.

Im so glad we can be a caveman blacksmith now in the game where you can turn and haul ass into the woods minute 1 to win

regarding the light when night part, i think they should apply both pitch black and bright nights because irl there's moon phases and when its a new moon its pitch black when full moon its bright and anything else is the moderate brightness or maybe they could go a level further where a moon phase in between new and full moon has different brightness less bright than full moon but not pitch black at new moon and all the phases in between are not the same brightness

I got all the zombies to damage everything even if they did not spot the player, rosewood is looking like it got hit by a tornado, even the fire station looks like a house in Brazil, just imagine the state of the prison.

Hey Retanaru, any chance you know where to find a list of the xp given by things and activity done in the game? Or how much time (real life time) it would take to grind skills from 0 to 10 without any "boost" (be it from the initial skill levels, professions, or book multiplier) from initial skills present.

If you stand still you can get the instakill allmost every time, but truth be told, I dont like spears for dealing with grouped up zombies. Axes or even a baseball bat are usually better at that. But if the zombies are coming in piecemeal spear is the best option.

For the early game, a mod that renames Lousville maps according to which zone they belong to would be great. They could simply be named 1-9 or NW, N, NE, etc. Or they could have district names, I really don't care as long as I can easily know if it's a map I need to read or not. Also maps for other areas of the map.

Smoker does nothing, that being said when you have to stop to smoke it really sucks. Because when you got 1000 zomboids chasing you, it’s hard to stop and have a smoke.

It's way too much for a single update. Why wouldn't the devs ship smaller chunks, e.g., wilderness + fishing, THEN crafting, THEN other map changes, THEN other vehicles, THEN interface changes, etc.? This was just way too much work for a single update, and it showed because it took like three years to get out and is still 'just around the corner' (so no promises). It's been anticipated the entire time I've played, and frankly, I have stopped playing the game twice in that time. What I am trying to say is that the real features I would have wanted would have been the regular features themselves, anything that might have changed apart from the mods that I installed between playthroughs.

Organized is S tier for me. The time spent gathering or making new storage spaces is an annoyance I like to minimize as much as possible, same reason I take it alongside Dextrous and Fast Reader.

I decided to hold up in the fire station and fortify it since zombies are infrequent around the areas i frequently roam through and had to level up my carpentry QUICK because a zombie broke down one of the front doors before i had the thought to fortify it and got extremely paranoid that zombies would start wandering through and catch me with my pants down

these negative traits are very interesting because they're surprisingly accurate to real life. i have most of these negative traits in real life, so i'd be screwed in a zombie apocalypse, for sure.

Has anyone fixed the sync issue in multiplayer? It's pretty common for 2 people who are standing side by side, to see the the same zombies in slightly different positions. Or even to see a zombie going after your friend on your screen while they see it going after you or noone on theirs.

Wakeful isn't that useful. It'll throw off your skep schedule too. I run/crouch run almost everywhere and I am able to avoid the negative feedback loop. Your justification for fast reader not being good is silly. The point is to allow you to manage your limited ingame time better, not simply get the task done faster. Baseball player should be lower. It's just a +1 to longblunt...something you can pick up very easily with very little grinding. Which is the same logic you applied to other positive traits you put low on the list. Graceful should be A tier, at least, probably s. It gives you benifits you can't just grind, and it's much better use of 4 points than a starting +1 in longblunt.

Is there a respawn mod? I like permadeath as a challenge for games ive gotten good at, but starting out in project zomboid it's just too frustrating to almost never make it into the mid/late game content. I've played about a dozen characters and none of them lasted a week. I get snuck up on while taking forever and a day to unpack and pick sht up every single time. Speaking of which, another mod I want is to disable the stupid mechanic where you cant see zombies unless you're facing them. I get its trying to simulate a kind of 1st person perspective, but it just doesn't fit with an isometric game. Compared to an actual first person zombie game like 7days, where you can hear zombie footsteps and screeches when they're targeting you, project zomboid you might as well be playing as Helen Keller for all the spatial awareness it gives you. I think if I had those two mods I could actually enjoy this game.

one thing im worried about with B42 is animals in multiplayer, its been said that not caring for animals will result in them dying, but what if im logged off and a whole month passes without them being cared for? how will it register my animals and me being logged off and other players potentially interacting with that

Honestly, Smoker is genuinely a 100% positive trait. All it takes is one visit to a gas station, and you'll have more than enough cigarettes to last you untill you die. And if you don't, there are more gas stations, with even more cigarettes. The only way I see someone running out of cigs is if they play on really stingy loot settings, or survive a ridiculous amount of time. Add to that the positive effect that the cigarettes reduce stress AND unhappiness, and the fact that it gives you points, and the upsides outweigh the downsides by so much, the downsides may as well not be there.

Hi. Very new player here (about a week). One of the 2 story spawn houses in muldrough has one of these invisible storages under a staircase. I found it by accident while I was walking up the stairs and still had the floor inventory window open. Had no idea what it was. It just had some gold jewelry, so I kept moving. Should be pretty easy to find if anyone is interested.

Deaf isn’t too terrible to play around, except for not noticing alarms and alike. It has the added bonus that you can put on some music and vibe in the zombie apocalypse.

I always take obese with strong, so i get free strenght and i dont have to eat food for like 3 days.

Never played Zomboid in my entire Life, but still watched the entire vid. Very interesting game. Might give it a try
